Who doesn't love to have fun. Of course everyone has a different idea of what counts as fun, don't they. When I say to Abby and Maddy "Get on your garden boots, lets go play in the garden", they look at me with a little suspicion (although I think they realize that it means Kim and I are going to work and they get to eat tomatoes and play in the sandbox.) We wanted to find a way to make the garden a little more fun, and decided that somewhere to play house would be perfect. The picture at right shows the first steps in our bean teepee. The girls helped hold up the first few poles, and of course once it was finished have enjoyed dragging the statues from the yard into it to play house. A few weeks ago, we planted some pole bean seeds around the edges, and although with the cooler temperatures they aren't growing fast, they are up and close to being ready to attach to the poles. The picture below may not show it, but there are doorways on both sides, and our plan is to create little windows too, one Abby-height and one Maddy-height. The girls are pretty excited about seeing it grow in, and we are too. We'll post some pictures as the plants grow to show how they are doing.
