The family tradition continues today with the nursery being run by Larry and Vicki's children, Kim and Mark, along with Kim's husband Joey. The nursery has come a long way from its beginnings, but the Kerby family's passion for gardening continues to grow. You will still find lots of azaleas and roses like you did back in 1980, and you just might find a few of Grandma Kerby's plants too (she's still growing away at 94!), but today you'll also find pottery and fruit trees, and flowers in all shapes, colors and sizes. Come out and celebrate Kerby's birthday this weekend and see how much the nursery has grown in 30 years.

Bash on the Boardwalk Kerby's Turns 30
It's hard to believe that this year will be Kerby's 30th birthday. We're celebrating with a weekend-long
birthday bash on the boardwalk, complete with fresh-spun
cotton candy and hot popcorn. And of course the boardwalk
will be bursting with color, so come out and celebrate with
us.
Juicy and
delicious, there is nothing like picking fruit from a tree you've grown and
eating it on the spot. Whether you like mangos or jakfruit, kiwi or papaya,
or nance and custard apple, there is a fruit to fit every taste. After the
workshop, you'll be able to sample some of the delicious fruits that can be
grown in our area.
Easter Egg
Hunt
Spring is in the air, and nothing says spring like the
beautiful flowers of Easter. This weekend, come out and
enjoy all that the season has to offer. And if you have
young gardeners, bring their Easter baskets and join us for
an Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday morning at 10am. There will be
fun prizes and treats!
Butterfly Weekend
Make your garden the place for butterflies to be this season. Come out for a fun weekend
with activities for the kids and all the information you need to create a beautiful butterfly garden.

stroll the almost half mile of boardwalk bursting with color. These
beautiful spring flowers are just waiting to bring your garden back to life.
And starting this weekend, Kerby's will be staying open until 7pm on Fridays
and Saturdays. So come on out and join the party.
Grandpa and Grandma Kerby (pictured
at right) used to love growing plants in their backyard. From roses to
begonias, mexican petunias to unique cacti, anything that would root could
be found growing in their garden. Their son Larry, always being somewhat
entrepreneurial began toting plants around the neighborhood in a little red
wagon and selling them to the neighbors. So I guess you could say
that's where Kerby's Nursery began.
As time went on, Larry picked up the
gardening bug and as a hobby also loved to grow whatever plants he could.
His hobby started to fill his backyard up with plants, so rather than
pulling a wagon around the neighborhood, he started running ads in the local
Brandon paper advertising the plants he had for sale. People started coming
to purchase the plants and as Larry continued growing more, the rows of pots
really started to crowd the yard. Pretty soon, it was time to move the
nursery to its own location, so in 1980, Larry and Vicki Kerby officially
moved the nursery to its current location at Parsons and Wheeler. In 1980,
Parsons was just a two-lane road with a stop sign and the nursery only
occupied one acre, but over time the area has grown and the nursery has
grown too.
